Butterface is a novella which doesn’t really make any sense to me. It’s about being attracted to someone for more than just their looks. Can’t you stop thinking about it?

Butterface btterface Gwen Hayes is a book about a girl I can understand. Butterface is a nice, quick read with fully developed characters and plot.

Anyone in need of a short pick-me-up story. While at first the story kind of irritated me with its dialogue and overemphasis on looks, I eventually realized that Beth was so focused on looks becaus “Butterface” is a short story by Gwen Hayes that tells the story of Lucas “Lucky” O’Leary, the handsome soccer stud, and Beth, a teenage girl born with hemifacial microsomia.

It was heartbreaking to read bbutterface Beth holds her head at a certain angle, making sure her imperfections won’t be easy to notice.

More background info on the main characters, above where they came from, their families, why Beth worked so much, just The scars on Beth’s face aren’t nearly as deep as the ones she nurses on the inside. I don’t know what this was about, but I never would’ve guessed that the pretty as a picture girl on the cover would’ve made it to a hayds dinner.

But still it makes her feel really insecure. So he shut up. Who said that scars on your face make you ugly? The one mistake that really bugged the heck out of me was that the author misspelled the birth defect Beth was suffering from. Butterface does all that and more. I like that Lucky likes Beth as a friend first, after weeks of talking with her.


The short story shows the progression of the character’s relationship to one another and difficult obstacles they have to overcome to get to where they want to be in hayfs.

I liked the story though, very cute. It’s the moment when she knows what kind of hayss that maybe she isn’t quite as lucky as all would think she is, even though we know Lucky’s thoughts leading up to the party its hard not to like the fact that he let her drag him to the party.
