Without knowing the fact that what is this novel all about, I started reading it and believe me I wasn’t disappointed a bit. No trivia or quizzes yet.
Read it with an open mind- rising above the bais of current society norms and you will enjoy it. It is one of the recommended work to all those who want to learn more about India and its ancient civilization.
The characterization of Ravana is simply mindblowing. Additionally, he couldn’t afford to be wrong about the mythological facts.

Newer Post Older Post Home. Strong and Bold Epic. This book was written in and the writer claimed to have written as many as books before but I can’t find any satisfying results for him either!
His entire ouvre is very impressive, but ‘Vaishali Ki Nagarvadhu’ is outstanding. He has based all this historical details on the basis of ancient Indian literatures such as Vedas, Puranas etc.

Is there an English translation of the book also? One of the best books I read The book narrates the story Ravana’s life in a unique way; bringing his character to live in a more neutral manner.

This book also give insights into ancient Indian civilization around 7 – 8 thousand years back. Again after long time I read some hindi novels. I also apologize that due to scarcity of time, I am writing review of ramshamah rakshamah only but according to me reviews of three books are pending for my blog.

Coming to the novel and the story itself, writing a philosophical novel about a Acharya Chatursenthrough this novel, has given such a glimpse into the life and times of Raavana that you feel that he witnessed everything through his own eyes. Coming to the novel and the story itself, writing raksamah philosophical novel about a mythological antagonist and that too of Raavan’s stature is really difficult as the opinions have already been made.
So many doubts in my mind about Hinduism, India etc seem to have some base now: But sometimes author goes quite deep in to explaining the relationship of various characters which is not easy to remember. A devout Hindu- for whom way of life is the one propaganded since ages by his ancestors, will find it difficult to digest the historical background and stories explaning Rakshashas, Daityas and even other Kings and Rishis- Shivi, Harishchandra, Puru, Indra, Varuna,Vashistha rakshamaah.

In the words of the author, a prolific writer actively writing for forty years before producing VKN, “Main ab tak ki apni sari rachanaao ko radd karta hun, aur ‘Vaishali Ki Nagarvadhu’ ko apni ekamaatra rachana ghoshit karta hun. AcharyaJi put facts in fiction is such a way that compels the reader to take all the mythology as ancient historical facts.
His language did make my life a bit difficult but a dictionary is all you need! There is too much voilence, gayam me correct, blunt voilence! Jan 13, Narender Pal marked it as to-read.
